FREE Summer Reading Programs for kids, Studies have shown that kids can lose two-three months of education during their summer breaks.
Studies also show that reading four to five books over the summer has a positive impact.
One of the ways that I like to help keep my kiddos entertained and continue learning throughout the summer is having them participate in Free Summer Reading Programs for kids.
The kids LOVE participating; they’re having fun reading and earning cool prizes at the same time.

1. Your Local Library –The best Summer Reading Programs can be found right at your local Library. Please take advantage of their reading programs.
2. Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program Kids in grades 1-6 who Read eight books and record them in the provided online reading journal can choose a FREE BOOK from their selection on the Reading Journal list at the store. For Adults; Share Your School’s Required Reading List and Get a Free Tall Hot or Iced Coffee from the Cafe.
3.Chuck E. Cheese’ Reading Rewards– Their reading program is ongoing, Kids read every day for two weeks straight and earn ten free tokens to use on their next visit. You can Get a Free Reading Rewards Calendar on the Chuck E. Cheese site.
4. Six Flags Read to Succeed -Kids in grades K-6 who complete six hours of recreational reading earn a free ticket to Six Flags! My kids did this last year. The NEW 2019 season hasn’t started yet, but it will soon so keep checking their website.
5. Half Price Book Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program– Half Price will reward your child with a Free gift if they read for at least 300 minutes during June and July. They will get $5 for each month.
6. Scholastic’s Summer Challenge: Kids ages 6-17 From May 6 until September 6, Over the course of 18 weeks, kids can log in their summer reading minutes online, unlocking digital rewards as they complete weekly reading challenges, play games, earn virtual rewards and enter sweepstakes.
7. Pottery Barn – Join their Kids Book Club Story Time every Tuesday at 11 am in stores. Kids get a special gift after five visits.
8. Books-A-Million – Kids who read 4 books and bring in completed journal in-stores will receive get a free Diary of a Wimpy Kid drawstring backpack.
9 Pizza Hut-offers Free reading programs for kids doing the school year and summertime where they can receive FREE PIZZA for reading books. They also offer a free reading program for Homeschoolers.
10 TD Bank – TD Bank will reward kids in grades K-5 who read 10 books with $10 CASH that will be added to their free saving account.
